Retired Heroes

Once a Hero, forever a Hero. We would love to thank every mentor who has contributed to the legacy that we are proud of.

Here's what our students say about us

Testimonials

Hero has made a huge impact during my HSC. For instance, they helped me achieve results I thought weren’t within my capabilities. They really do stand by: WE CARE. WE GO BEYOND. Furthermore, in my time at Hero every tutor made me feel cared for. Especially, Michael, he was always above and beyond by replying to my 12 AM text messages, sharing words of encouragement before exams, and most importantly being proud of me.

Youjin Shrestha

Ashfield Boys High School

Hero has such a great community. For example, the mentors genuinely facilitate such a great atmosphere to be yourself and comfortably ask questions. Also, the booklets were actually sooo helpful! In particular, during my exam periods when I had a mountain of work and felt lost, it was the Hero notes that saved me. Finally, Hero mentors taught me how to manage time and schedule my work – they are habits that I still use today, I’m forever grateful!

Grace Jeong

Pacific Hills High School

The mentors at Hero took time out for their days to understand what support I needed. It’s because of this that I really grew as both a student and a young adult. Moreover, the content that Hero gives is very understandable and covers all dot points in detail. This made it very easy to learn the content, especially during the revision period before my exams. The vibe at Hero is also super comfortable – we still hang out after the HSC!

Kay Shi

Kay graduated from Girraween High School, receiving an ATAR of 99.00 and a stunning UMAT score of 99. He believes deeply in the power of perseverance and appreciates that the path to achieving one’s goals is often not linear, taking both courage, grit and curiosity to walk the journey.

In his first year of university, he was enrolled in the Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy) at USYD, but that never stopped him from ambitions. With commitment and time, he was successfully able to transfer into a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree at WSU where he now resides as not only a high-achieving student, but also an executive of the Medical Society, treasurer for Psychiatry Association and assistant curator for the MD syllabus. Through this experience, Kay has accumulated a multitude of wisdom which he now actively shares with his students as they begin to embark on their new chapter of senior high school.

Michelle Xie

Michelle graduated from North Sydney Girls High School, receiving the Premier’s Award for All Round Excellence. Being a ‘mentor’ is no stranger to her – in high school, she was involved in the executive team (Treasurer) of Ventures Society, and elected as a Peer Study group leader as well as a Math mentor. And, arguably more impressive, she was able to balance this alongside her academic ambitions, ranking top 5 in her school for all subjects including Chemistry, Economics and Math Extension 2.

One of the key axioms in her life is that “having confidence and trusting yourself is the foundation for success”. This attitude has opened up opportunities for her far beyond the expectations of an average first-year university student. As a consultant at 180DC, ICC squad member and director of The Actuarial Society of UNSW, Michelle continues to push her development, growth and leadership capability daily. She’s an inspiration and a role model for every student in her classroom, truly embodying the DNA of a ‘Hero’.

Michael Chan

Michael graduated from Baulkham Hills High School, receiving the Premier’s Award for All Round Excellence. Having been a Prefect, SRC and a mentor at school, Michael is a natural born leader who always looks to inspire his peers. Michael will be studying combined Commerce and Computer Science at the University of New South Wales.

During high school, Michael also co-founded a not-for-profit organisation, Project Unwritten. Today, Project Unwritten continues to impact lives around the world, facilitating volunteer trips for young people to countries like Cambodia. With his personal ethos that “Age is never a hindrance towards achievement,” he hopes to empower his own students to not only maximise their own HSC experience but to discover and reach their own life-long goals. With dedication, enthusiasm and maturity way beyond his years, Michael will always go above and beyond for his students.

Ryan Jepson

Ryan graduated from Sydney Boys High School and was well-known for his all-round excellence. Outside of his academic wins, Ryan was also a leader of his cohort as the Head Prefect, and an extraordinary communicator as part of the school’s debating team – in fact, he was later invited back by his school to take on the prestigious role as the Debating Coach; nothing short of remarkable.

But he’s more than that. Ryan is well-known for his bright smile, warm personality and spontaneous inclinations. He is adventurous at heart and loves going on camping and hiking trips over the weekend. At UNSW, he is also engaged in student societies, with his natural passion for social impact leading him to become a consultant (and future project leader) at 180DC. His energy, intelligence and charisma means he is an interactive and engaging mentor in the classroom, which explains why he is loved by many students. Ryan is truly a neighbourhood Hero who contributes greatly to the next generation of high-achieving and effective individuals.

Nahum Adeel

Nahum graduated from Holy Spirit College, receiving the Premier’s Award for All Round Excellence. Boasting an array of awards, Nahum has dedicated himself to all aspects of life, receiving several trophies at a high level of competitive basketball as well as receiving the ICAS award for scoring in the top 2% of his peers. Currently, Nahum is studying a Bachelor of Actuarial Studies at the University of New South Wales.

Furthering his passion to enrich the lives of others, Nahum has involved himself extensively with various charitable drives such as Caritas whilst maintaining a firm involvement as a tutor for his peers. With drive and discipline like no other, Nahum will ensure that his students are adequately supported and more. With a firm belief that no start in life is ever too late, Nahum will always be there for his students, empowering them through the best learning environment possible.
